The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Government Bend Road, approximately two miles west of Dalton, on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 11:50 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Leslie May, 37 of Providence, KY, was operating a 2012 Jeep Compass westbound on Government Bend Road when she lost control on the wet road. The vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a culvert before coming to rest upright off the roadway.
Ms. May was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved.
Trooper First Class John Komar investigated the collision. Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
As of 2:50 pm., KSP Post 2 District has investigated 18 non-injury collisions and 3 injury collisions (all 3 were minor injury). They have also assisted 13 motorists who had run off the road, but did not require a collision report
