On Thursday, Kentucky Commissioner of Education, Terry Holliday, Ph.D., will begin the next step in the process of replacing Providence District school board member David Higgins.
Higgins, who was elected to the position in November, presented the board with his letter of resignation on Friday July 26, 2013.
Under state guidelines, it falls to the commissioner of education to select a board members’ replacement within 90 days of the resignation’s effective date.
According to the commissioners office, four qualified applicants met the September 24 deadline to file an application for the position. At the time of that phone call they could not comment on who those four applicants were.
On Thursday the applicants will be interviewed at the Webster County School Board office in Dixon.
