The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that there is a slight risk of severe storms during the next two days.

“There is a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms in our Day 2 outlook,” wrote Rick Shanklin, Warning Coordination Meteorologist atNWS in Paducah KY. “As of this writing, the Slight Risk area is north of a Cape Girardeau MO to Owensboro KY line. The main threats will be damaging wind and heavy rains. As of now, it appears areas further north and northeast (i.e. Southwest Indiana & I-64 region of southern IL) will be in the most favorable region for severe thunderstorms. Timing wise, the bulk of the severe weather threat will be late Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening in the northwest (Perryville, Mo, Mt. Vernon IL areas) and Wednesday night elsewhere.”
