At around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell stopped a pickup registered to Jay's Electric Service at the corner of Morgan and Cedar Streets. Behind the wheel was William Clark, 23, who had escaped from a Graves County Jail work crew earlier in the day.

The Kentucky State Police report that at around 3:30 p.m., while working at the state highway garage in Mayfield, Clark went to the restroom and did not return. Hey is believed to have stolen the pickup from near the garage.
Constable Mark Turner assisted in the arrest.
