Clay City Council met in a brief session on Monday to open bids for the proposed reconstruction of a problematic gas line creek crossing on Caney Creek.

The city will split the cost of the project 50/50 with the city of Sturgis. The two cities share ownership of the gas line.
The city received a total of three bids on the project. Jason R. Brangers bid $80,000 and EMS bid the job for $139,590. Martin Contracting bid each city’s part separately at $23,050,25 for a total of $46,100.50.
Clay council accepted the bid of Richmond, KY based Martin Contracting. Sturgis had already voted to accept the same bid.
