Kentucky native to oversee legislative activities for Century

 Century Aluminum announced on Monday that it had hired a new Director of Government and Community Affairs. Chad A. Harpole will be joining the Company starting November 1, 2014.  

Harpole will come to the company from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Vice President of Government Affairs. He will be responsible for overseeing all legislative and policy activity for Century in Kentucky and further develop the Company’s brand across the Commonwealth.  
“We are pleased to add someone with the experience, relationships and knowledge of Chad to our team,” said Michael Bless, Century’s President and Chief Executive Officer.  “The creation of this position further shows our commitment to Kentucky and our expectations for future growth in the aluminum industry.” 
Harpole is a native of Kentucky and lifelong resident of the city of Georgetown.  He is a 2004 graduate of Georgetown College and received his Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky’s Martin School of Public Policy and Administration in 2006.  He previously served as Vice President, Public Policy for Commerce Lexington, Director and Manager of Public Affairs for the Kentucky Chamber and Account Manager for New West Advertising and Public Relations.   
“I look forward to continue to working with the Kentucky General Assembly, the Executive Branch and Kentucky’s Congressional Delegation to ensure Century’s operations continue to be successful in Kentucky,” said Mr. Harpole.  “I truly hope to develop Century Aluminum into a household name alongside Kentucky’s most recognized corporate brands.” 
Century Aluminum Company owns primary aluminum capacity in the United States and Iceland. Century’s corporate offices are located in Chicago, IL.
