The Slaughters Commission held a brief meeting on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
Commissioners voted to approve the second reading of the of the 2012-2014  Property Tax Ordinance., setting the rate for real estate at 12 cents per $100 and the rate for personal property at 12 cents per $100 for the current fiscal year.

Mayor Jeff Coomes reported that he would have a report from Fifth Third Bank on options for the monies in the Cemetery perpetual fund by the November meeting.
The city and Fifth Third Bank have been investigating options for these funds for over a year. These funds are currently under a trust and the commission is seeking to move funds into something that pays better interest rates.
The commission voted to set trick-or-treat hours in the city for 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Halloween night. Richard Sutton will once again be hired to patrol within the city limits on that night.
